In 1951, a seed was sown in Beijing, China, with the establishment of a modest institution known as the Senior Business Cadre School. This was the humble beginning of what would blossom into a leading university. Founded by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, its initial focus was clear: to equip individuals with the expertise needed to navigate the complexities of international trade. This period of growth culminated in 1984 when the college shed its former skin and proudly emerged as the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE).
