South China Normal University is a prestigious public university located in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China.

The university's roots stretch back to 1909, when the seeds of agricultural education were sown in the form of Guangdong province's agricultural experiment station and its affiliated institute. Eight years later, in 1917, the institute blossomed into the Guangdong Province Public Agricultural School, offering a dedicated four-year degree program in agriculture – a significant step in formalizing agricultural education in the region.
