Qingdao University of Science and Technology

Qingdao University of Science and Technology, also known as Qingkeda, is a university located in Qingdao, China.

This university's roots trace back to 1950, when it began its journey as a vocational school in Shenyang known as the Shenyang Light Industry Vocational School. Its focus on practical skills reflected the needs of China's burgeoning industrial sector at the time. Just six years later, in 1956, the school relocated to Qingdao, marking a turning point in its history. Renamed the Qingdao Rubber Industry School, it adapted to the city's industrial landscape, training specialists crucial for the rubber industry.

The 1980s ushered in a period of significant transformation. The right to award master's degrees in technical fields was bestowed upon the institution in 1980, signifying recognition of its growing academic stature. This paved the way for further development, culminating in a momentous change in 1984. The Ministry of Education (MOE) officially renamed it the Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology, reflecting its expanding focus on the chemical sciences. The quest for excellence continued, and in 2002, the institution reached a new milestone. It was rechristened Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST), symbolizing its evolution into a comprehensive university encompassing a wider range of scientific and technological disciplines. This transformation cemented its position as a key player in China's scientific and technological advancement.
