Nanjing Agricultural University

Nanjing Agricultural University is a prestigious public university located in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.

The roots of this esteemed public university stretch back to 1902, when two separate institutions laid the groundwork for its future prominence. The Sanjiang Normal School, a teacher training center established in Nanjing, and the Faculty of Agriculture at the Private University of Nanking, founded in 1914, were the early seeds that would eventually blossom into a leading agricultural research center. Decades later, in 1952, a significant merger took place. Nanjing Agricultural College was born from the unification of the agricultural faculties of the University of Nanking (now Nanjing University) and National Central University, along with contributions from the Agricultural College of Zhejiang University. This consolidation brought together a wealth of knowledge and expertise, propelling the newly formed college towards academic excellence.

Recognition for its achievements came in 1963 when the college was designated as one of the two key institutions for higher agricultural education within China. However, its journey wasn't without its detours. In 1972, the college relocated to Yangzhou and merged with the Agricultural College of Northern Jiangsu, forming the Agricultural College of Jiangsu. Fortunately, this period of change proved temporary. In 1979, the institution returned to its original home in Nanjing, resuming its previous name. The year 1984 marked another milestone – the college officially became Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU). This transformation solidified its position as a leading center for agricultural research and education. NAU's dedication to its field earned it a shift in affiliation in 2000, moving from the Ministry of Agriculture to the Ministry of Education. This change further cemented its role as a national leader in agricultural sciences.
