Jining Medical University

Jining Medical University is a public medical university located in Jining and Rizhao, Shandong province, China.

The university's roots trace back to 1952, established as a medical assistant school with a mission to provide a foundation in healthcare. In its early years, it focused on training medical assistants, equipping them with the necessary skills to support doctors. This initial phase marked the beginning of a long journey towards becoming a prominent medical institution. By 1958, the institution evolved into a medical college, reflecting its expanding curriculum and focus on a more comprehensive medical education. This period witnessed a shift towards training qualified medical professionals. 

However, the educational landscape in China saw a change in 1959, leading to the college offering a three-year MD program. This shift reflects the adjustments made by the institution to adapt to the evolving needs of the healthcare system. The journey continued in 1986 with another name change, reverting back to a medical college but now offering a five-year MD program. This decision signified a renewed emphasis on in-depth medical education, ensuring graduates possessed the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their chosen field. Finally, in 1987, the institution reached its current status, becoming a full-fledged medical university. This marked a significant milestone, solidifying its position as a leading center for medical education and research in China.
