The roots of this esteemed university stretch back to 1905, with the establishment of the Jiangxi Industrial School. In 1940, undergraduate education took root with the founding of the National Chungcheng University. This marked a significant shift, solidifying the path towards higher learning in agricultural fields. Following China's political changes in 1949, the university was renamed Nanchang University.
