Fujian Medical University

Fujian Medical University is a university located in Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province, China.

Fujian Medical University boasts a rich history dating back to 1937 when it was first established as the Fujian Provincial Medical Vocational School. This marked its beginnings as one of the earliest public institutions for undergraduate medical education in China. In just two years, the name evolved to Fujian Provincial Medical College, and by 1949, it became Fujian Medical College. A significant development occurred in 1969. Fujian Medical University was formally founded through a merger. The institutions involved were the Fujian Chinese Traditional Medical College and the medical department of Huaqiao University. This merger also led to a relocation of the university to Quanzhou, Fujian. However, in 1978, Fujian Medical University returned to its original home in Fuzhou.
