Foshan University

Foshan University is a designated full-time comprehensive university in Foshan, Guangdong province, China.

The university's roots trace back to 1958 with the establishment of two institutions: Foshan Normal College and the Foshan branch of South China Agricultural College. The agricultural college's branch went through name changes, becoming Foshan Veterinarian School and then Foshan Agriculture and Animal Husbandry College. Foshan Normal College, on the other hand, remained under that name. In 1986, a significant development occurred. The university was formally established, drawing upon the foundation laid by Foshan Normal College. However, the story doesn't end there. 

In 1995, the university gained the official designation of a full-time comprehensive university under the approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education. This period also saw Foshan University come under the joint administration of the Guangdong provincial government and the Foshan local government. The university continued to grow and achieve recognition. In 2002, it successfully passed the national teaching assessment for bachelor's degree programs. A major expansion came in 2005 with the merging of Foshan Medical College and Foshan College of Education into Foshan University. This resulted in the university having its current structure of three campuses located within Foshan city. As it stands today, Foshan University boasts a rich history, a multidisciplinary approach to education, and a commitment to excellence in research and innovation.
