East China University of Science and Technology is a public university located in Shanghai, China.

East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) boasts a rich history dating back to 1952. Established as the East China Institute of Chemical Technology, it was the first institution in China solely dedicated to chemical engineering. This pioneering institute arose from the consolidation of chemistry departments from several prestigious universities: Jiaotong University, Université d'Aurora, Utopia University, Soochow University, and Jiangnan University.  Originally situated in Shanghai's Jiangwan District, ECUST relocated to Meilong District in 1954. Throughout its early years, ECUST focused on nurturing top talent in the chemical industry, becoming a cornerstone of China's chemical engineering development.
