University of Douala

University of Douala is a public university in Douala, Cameroon. It is one of the eight state universities in the country.

The institution's origins trace back to 1977 with the establishment of a University Centre in Douala. This center marked the beginning of higher education opportunities in the region, initially focusing on providing foundational courses and preparing students for further studies elsewhere.  As the demand for higher education grew within the region, the need for a full-fledged university became increasingly apparent. Over the next several years, the center expanded its offerings and gradually developed its infrastructure and academic capacity. This growth laid the groundwork for its eventual transformation into a comprehensive university.  Finally, in 1993, a pivotal moment arrived when the institution was officially established as a full-fledged university.
