Federal University of São Carlos

The Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) is a public university located in São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil.

The history of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) can be traced back to 1960, when a federal statute determined the creation of a university in São Carlos. However, it was not until 1968 that a presidential decree was enacted to create UFSCar, and a commission was formed to coordinate the project.

UFSCar officially began its academic activities in 1970, with 96 students enrolled in the science and materials engineering degree.
