Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources

The Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) is a public university located in Gaborone, Botswana.

The history of the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) can be traced back to 1982, when it was established as the Botswana College of Agriculture (BCA). The BCA was initially established to provide training for agricultural technicians and other mid-level agricultural professionals. However, as the demand for higher education in agriculture in Botswana grew, the BCA began to offer undergraduate programs in agriculture and related fields.

In 1991, the BCA Act was passed, which granted the college the authority to offer undergraduate degrees in agriculture and related fields. The BCA continued to grow and expand its academic offerings throughout the 1990s and 2000s. In 2015, the Parliament of Botswana passed the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources Act, which granted the college university status. BUAN officially became a university on February 1, 2016.

Since becoming a university, BUAN has continued to expand its academic offerings and research capacity.

BUAN has played an important role in the development of the agricultural sector in Botswana. The university's graduates have gone on to hold senior positions in government, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations. BUAN's research findings have also been used to inform policy and practice in the agricultural sector.

Today, BUAN is a leading agricultural university in Africa. The university is committed to providing its students with a high-quality education and training, and to conducting research that will help Botswana and other African countries to achieve sustainable development.
