Autonomous University of Beni

The Autonomous University of Beni (UAB) is a public university located in Trinidad, Bolivia.

The history of the Autonomous University of Beni (UAB) can be traced back to 1966, when a group of students and intellectuals from the Beni Department of Bolivia began to advocate for the creation of a university in the region. At the time, the only public university in Bolivia was the University of San Andrés in La Paz, and many students from the Beni had to travel long distances to pursue higher education.

In 1967, the Bolivian government passed a law creating the UAB. The university was initially located in a small building in the center of Trinidad, but it quickly grew and expanded. In 1972, the UAB moved to its current campus on the outskirts of the city.

In the early years of its existence, the UAB faced a number of challenges. The university had limited resources and a small faculty. However, it was able to attract a number of talented students and faculty members from other parts of Bolivia and from abroad.

In the 1980s, the UAB began to expand its academic offerings and to develop its research capacity. The university also began to play a more active role in the development of the Beni Department.
