The Royal University of Bhutan Paro College of Education (PCE) is a public college of education located in Paro, Bhutan. It is one of the ten constituent colleges of the Royal University of Bhutan, and is the only college in Bhutan that specializes in teacher education.
The history of the Royal University of Bhutan Paro College of Education (PCE) can be traced back to 1961, when it was established as a teacher training center. The center was initially located in the Rinpung Dzong, a 17th-century fortress and monastery in Paro. In 1999, the center moved to its current campus in Nangkha.
In 2000, the teacher training center was renamed the National Institute of Education (NIE) and began offering bachelor's degrees in education. In 2003, NIE merged with the Royal University of Bhutan, and in 2006, it was renamed Paro College of Education.
Over the years, PCE has grown steadily and has become the leading institution of teacher education in Bhutan. The college offers a variety of programs in teacher education, including diploma programs, undergraduate programs, postgraduate programs, and master's programs. PCE also offers a variety of in-service training programs for teachers.
PCE has played a key role in developing the Bhutanese education system. The college has produced thousands of teachers who have gone on to teach in schools all over Bhutan. PCE graduates are known for their commitment to teaching and their dedication to their students.
