Military Institute of Science & Technology

Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) is a engineering technological research institution in Bangladesh, located at Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka.

MIST's story begins in 1998, a time of immense hope and progress for the newly independent Bangladesh. Recognizing the need for a technologically proficient military and a skilled workforce, the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation for MIST. Just a year later, in 1999, MIST's academic journey began with a pioneering batch of Civil Engineering students. The institute quickly expanded, launching programs in Computer Science & Engineering in 2000, followed by Electrical, Electronic & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in 2002.

While initially focused on military personnel, MIST embraced inclusivity in 2003, opening its doors to civilian students. This marked a significant shift, transforming MIST into a truly national institution fostering excellence in STEM education. MIST's academic affiliation evolved in 2014 when it became part of the newly established Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). This affiliation provided MIST with greater autonomy and flexibility in designing its curriculum and research initiatives.
