German University Bangladesh

German University Bangladesh (GUB) is a private university located in Bangladesh.

The university's story begins with the vision of Professor Dr. Saifullah Khandker, a Bangladeshi professor residing in Germany. Dr. Khandker dreamt of establishing an institution that would bring the renowned educational model of Germany to Bangladesh. In 2012, his dream took root with the initial plan to establish GUB in Sakhipur, Tangail District. However, the university eventually found its home in Gazipur, Gazipur District, and officially opened its doors in 2013.

GUB's initial years were not without hurdles. In November 2016, the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh raised concerns about the university's lack of a vice-chancellor, leading to temporary non-recognition of its certificates. This posed a significant challenge, but the GUB team persevered. They addressed the UGC's concerns and successfully appointed a vice-chancellor, paving the way for official recognition in 2017.

Since then, GUB has steadily grown and established itself as a respected institution in Bangladesh's higher education landscape. The university currently boasts two campuses: the main campus in Joydebpur, Gazipur, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology campus in Ghatail, Tangail.

One of GUB's key strengths is its focus on practical education and research. The university has forged valuable partnerships with renowned German universities like the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). These collaborations enable GUB students to participate in exchange programs and benefit from world-class research opportunities.
