Cumilla University is a public university located at Kotbari, Cumilla, Bangladesh.

The story of Comilla University begins in 2001, when the Bangladeshi government's Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) initiated a project to establish twelve science and technology universities across the country. One of these was destined for Comilla, a city steeped in history and cultural significance. Five years later, on May 28, 2006, the dream materialized. Then-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia officially inaugurated Comilla University, marking a momentous occasion for the region's educational landscape.

Initially, the university operated from temporary facilities borrowed from the Comilla Cantonment Public School and College.
