Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Science & Technology University

Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Science & Technology University (BSFMSTU) is a public university of science and technology in Bangladesh.

BSFMSTU's journey began in 2000 as a private engineering college named "Mymensingh Engineering College (MEC)" established by the tireless efforts of eminent educationist Mirza Azam MP. With a vision to fulfill the commitments of then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, MEC aimed to provide quality technical education in the Jamalpur region. The college steadily gained recognition for its academic excellence and dedication to student development.

Mirza Azam's relentless efforts and MEC's impressive track record bore fruit in 2017. The Bangladesh government, acknowledging the college's contribution, agreed in principle to acquire and upgrade it to a public university. This marked a significant milestone in the institution's history.

On November 20, 2017, the "Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Science & Technology University Bill-2017" was passed by the parliament. This historic legislation officially established BSFMSTU, named after the mother of Sheikh Hasina, Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa. This was a touching tribute to a woman who championed education and played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's liberation war.
