Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) is a public university located in Gopalganj, Bangladesh.

BSMRSTU's roots stretch back to 1999, nurtured by the Awami League government's vision for 12 science and technology universities across under-served districts. With Gopalganj chosen, plans evolved into six development proposals. A dedicated project director brought the university selection, land acquisition, and preparation to life on around 55 acres.

Then, on a momentous day in July 2001, the BSMRSTU Act enshrined the university's existence. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, formally laid the foundation and recommended the first vice-chancellor, solidifying the university's connection to the Father of the Nation. From this fertile ground, BSMRSTU blossomed into the thriving institution it is today.
