Arabian Gulf University

Arabian Gulf University (AGU) is a public university in the city of Manama, Bahrain.

The history of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) can be traced back to the fourth meeting of the General Convention of Arab Education for the Gulf, in 1979. At this meeting, the GCC countries agreed to establish a regional university to serve the needs of their rapidly growing populations.

AGU was officially established in 1980, with its first campus located in Bahrain. The university initially offered only a limited number of programs, but it has since expanded to offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of disciplines.

AGU has faced a number of challenges throughout its history, including the Iran-Iraq War and the Gulf War. However, the university has persevered and grown to become one of the leading universities in the Gulf region.

In the early years of its existence, AGU focused on developing its core programs in medicine, dentistry, and engineering. In the 1990s, the university began to expand its offerings to include programs in business, science, and the arts.
