Ganja State University

Ganja State University (GSU) is a public university located in Ganja, Azerbaijan.

Ganja State University's roots reach back to 1938, where it began as a modest two-year pedagogical institute named after Nadezhda Krupskaya, housed on the third floor of a bustling school. Despite humble beginnings, it quickly blossomed. Within a year, departments of History and Azerbaijani language and literature were established, expanding its academic scope.

In 1943, it transformed into a four-year institution, proudly taking on the name of Kirovobad (Ganja) State Pedagogical Institute. This pivotal moment not only signified growth but also solidified its connection to the rich heritage of its city.

As Azerbaijan gained independence, GSU embraced its cultural identity. In 2000, it shed the Soviet-era title, proudly reclaiming its place as Ganja State University. Today, it stands tall as one of the oldest and largest universities in Azerbaijan, a testament to its commitment to academic excellence and its enduring legacy of nurturing minds in the heart of Ganja.
