Baku Slavic University

Baku Slavic University is a public university located in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Baku Slavic University boasts a rich history stretching back to 1946. It first began as a two-year state teacher's institute named after MF Akhundov, focused on training Russian language and literature teachers for secondary schools. This initial phase, spanning 1946-1952, saw the institute develop into a leading specialized institution for its domain.

The next few years brought significant transformations. By 1959, the institute had evolved into the Akhundov Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature, solidifying its focus on training Russian language teachers. This phase, lasting until 1966, witnessed the institute flourish into the largest specialized institution for its specific role. The academic year 1966-1967 marked a further pivotal point. Departments were reorganized and new faculties were established, diversifying the university's offerings.

Since then, Baku Slavic University has continued to grow and evolve. Its faculties and programs have expanded, encompassing Slavic and German languages, international relations, regional studies, and more. Today, it stands as a prominent university with a global reputation for academic excellence, attracting students and researchers from all corners of the world.
